Physical and technical aspects of snow, avalanches, and avalanche mitigation and management
With the possibility to submit to a special issue (ISSW 2024) of Cold Regions Science and Technology (CRST), we want to address especially authors working on physical aspects of snow and avalanches, engineering and forecasting practice, climate and hydrological aspects, interaction between forests with snow and avalanches.

- Dr. Alec van Herwijnen, WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF, Davos Dorf, Switzerland

Continuing a series of special issues of the International Snow Science Workshop (ISSW) with motto ‘A Merging of Theory and Practice’, this special issue on physical and technical aspects of snow, avalanches, and avalanche mitigation and management welcomes submissions based on papers accepted to the ISSW 2024. We welcome submissions on theoretical and experimental aspects, and technical case studies that offer new insights on snow, snow management, avalanches, and aspects on avalanche risk management or on impacts due to a changing climate.
Papers included in the special issue need to be distinctly different from the conference papers accepted to ISSW 2024 proceedings. All papers need to be of high scientific quality. The methodology employed should be adequate and competently carried out, and clearly described. Finally, the conclusions should be consistent with the results of the analysis.
Manuscript submission information:
- The special issue of CRST will be open for submissions from November 5th, 2024.
- The deadline for submissions is January 13th, 2025.
